A sinking feeling in San Diego?
The plumbing featured in this picture shows water leaking from a loose pipe connection. This is a simple fix, but when a leak like this goes unrepaired for too long, it can become a labor-intensive and expensive repair.
According to a study published by the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS), water damage caused by a sink averaged more than $7000 per incident. SERVPRO® of Mission Valley East has been mitigating water damage emergencies in San Diego for years, and we know that our fast response time helps our customers by minimizing the extent of the damage and the cost of the repairs. Here are some sink maintenance and repair tips from the IBHS:
Loss Prevention and Maintenance Tips
- Inspect plumbing beneath sinks every six months
- Ensure connections are secure and there is no evidence of corrosion on the pipes
- Look for kinks in copper of plastic pipes
- Kinks in pipes can lead to pinhole leaks over time
- Locate the water shut-off valve
- Inspect the valve every six months to make sure the water supply will shut off and replace the valve if needed
